Our client is looking for a talented quality assurance engineer. Overall responsibilities will be to participate in the QA efforts for the client’s products. These products presently include a Wiki, a discussion forum, and a course catalog, which are tools used to help build a vibrant genealogical research community. This position provides an opportunity to demonstrate world-class technical leadership, to be part of a dynamic and growing engineering environment, and to impact millions of users world-wide.
Key Responsibilities and Challenges
• Execute the vision, direction, and discipline of Quality Assurance within the community team.
• Write areas of test code, automating the tests for a web user interface as well as a RESTful web service interface.
• Participate with the test lead to identify the test methodologies and test harness that the team will use.
• Execute on a team using the methods of Scrum.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date industry skills in quality assurance and test automation. Understand and teach others in the group and in the department the processes and technologies, as well as the appropriate areas in which they should be applied.
• Determine creative, innovative, and cost-effective ways to meet requirements and deliverables.
• Work as an effective team member, producing the best out of each engineer through example. Embody a high degree of motivation and can instill this quality in others.
Background and Qualifying Criteria
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 3 or more years of related automation test industry experience.
• Ability to independently create significant well written test plans and test cases, covering the important aspects of the product’s business logic, as well as the ability to convert test cases into efficient automation test code.
• Experience with Java programming and associated frameworks, such as Spring.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, and bash.
• Experience testing products that run on Linux servers and in using Linux and Windows clients as platforms to write and execute tests.
• Experience with open source automation test frameworks such as Selenium, as well as knowledge of Borland Silk Test and Silk Performer is desirable.
• Experience with defining, building and running, component or feature tests within an automation framework.
