• To carry out design engineering functions under general direction, which may involve research of new technologies/alternative materials, conceptual design, detail & design drafting, product development, construction, on site testing, commissioning of equipment or maintenance and product support.
• Complete detailed designs and specifications, including 3D modeling, drawing creation and document control.
• Provide supporting calculations and specifications necessary for the development of designs.
• Conduct investigations and tests as required.
• Calculate and analyze test results, prepare detailed reports, recommendations and conclusions.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of current product.
• Conduct risk assessments of equipment and designs.
• Prepare detailed evaluation reports, cost estimates and recommendations on the specification and design of new or improved products, equipment or processes as required.
• Participate in the planning of design projects and assist in the solution of problems by modifying and adapting established equipment/designs.
• Ensure projects schedules are completed on time and within budget.
• Participate in implementation and maintenance of global engineering processes.

Requirements

• BS Mechanical engineering or equivalent
• 5-10 yrs experience
• 3D modeling experience, particularly ProE
• Understanding of machinery safety requirements and experience with risk assessments
• Understanding of drawing standards
• Understanding of automation of machinery
• Understanding of materials, mechanical properties, surface treatment etc.
• Understanding of mechanical fatigue and stress analyses
• Understanding of hydraulic systems
• Interest / exposure in the mining sector
• Engineering project management experience
• Results orientated
• Conceptual design capabilities
• Flexible to some travel
